Information System Inputs, Processes and Outputs

Information systems infrastructure:
Information systems infrastructure is a collection of data and processes that returns relevant information for its users. This procedure can usually be summed up in three main actions—inputs, processes, and outputs. Inputs are concerned with collecting data and information from various sources, both within a specific department or firm and from external sources. Processes refers to the job of sorting, organizing and calculating the information inputted into the system. Outputs is when someone such as a manager, employee, stakeholder, or decision maker wishes to review information within the system.

Information systems are commonly computerized and a combination of both software and hardware. Hardware can consist of a computer, output devices, input devices, and any other item that helps to accomplish a business process. Software is designed to aid the system user in conducting inputs, processes, and receiving outputted information. Software can also be used to aid in internal controls of the business processes that the system is designed to conduct. By preventing access, increasing usability, allowing greater accessibility from internal and external sources, and by allowing the department to function more effectively.

It is a vital portion of every major corporation to have a strong infrastructure for their information systems. Because of this, systems are regularly inspected, checked for bugs, and outputted data is verified for accuracy.
